This beautifully illustrated book, written in both Mi’kmaw and English, reflects the experiences of First Nations peoples’ assimilation into the Euro-Canadian school system, but speaks to everyone who is marginalized or at risk.
Originally from the Listuguj First Nation in Quebec, MICHAEL JAMES ISAAC is married, has five wonderful children, and works as an elementary school teacher in Cape Breton. DOZAY (ARLENE) CHRISTMAS grew up on the Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick. She attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and has displayed her artwork at galleries and exhibits across the Maritimes, Ontario and the United States.
