Viola Desmond on Canada's $10 Bill

Last week Canada unveiled the new $10 bill, which features civil rights icon Viola Desmond.

Desmond was arrested for sitting in a whites-only section of a Nova Scotia movie theatre in 1946. Her wrongful arrest kicked off a civil rights movement in Canada, and in 2010 the Nova Scotia Government recognized this gross miscarriage of justice and posthumously granted her a free pardon.

Viola Desmond’s Canada, by Graham Reynolds and Desmond’s sister, Wanda Robson (pictured above), tells the story of Desmond and provides a history of anti-black racism and segregation in Canada.

To celebrate Viola Desmond on Canada’s $10 bill, we’re offering Viola Desmond’s Canada for just $10. Just use discount code violadesmond on our site during checkout. Offer ends March 31, 2018.
