Both us here at Fernwood and our authors are going to be busy attending conference, hosting talks, launching books and staffing book displays this summer.

Here’s a list to help you keep track.

Latin American Studies Association – May 29–June 1, Washington D.C. Stephen Kimber (What Lies Across the Water) will be speaking at this year’s LASA conference in D.C., which is being held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.

June 4 - Five Days for the Five, Washington D.C. Panel discussion and book presentations by Brazilian and Canadian authors about democracy in Cuba and the case of the Cuban Five. Panelists: Fernando Morais, Brazilian journalist and author of The Last Soldiers of the Cold War, Stephen Kimber, Canadian journalist, professor and and author of What Lies Across the Water, and Arnold August, writer, and lecturer from Montreal, author of Cuba and Its Neighbours: Democracy in Motion. Celebration of Gerardo Hernandez’s birthday. Busboys and Poets, 2021 14th Street, NW, Washington, D.C.

June 7-9 - Left Forum, Pace University, New York City Fernwood authors Stephen Kimber (What Lies Across the Water) and Richard Roman & Edur Velasco Arregui (Continental Crucible) will both be speaking in panels during Left Forum. Roman and Arregui’s panel is “Class Struggle in North America: A Discussion of Continental Crucible: Big Business, Workers and Unions in the Transformation of North America,” which is Saturday, June 8, Room LHN, 5:30-7:10pm. Fernwood Publishing will also have a table set up in the exhibition hall — come say hello!

June 6 - Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities 2013, University of Victoria, B.C. Fernwood will be at the exhibition hall and attending conferences throughout Congress. We’re also hosting a reception at the Expo Events space in the McKinnon Building on Thursday, June 6, from 1–3pm, which is free and open to all.

NAISA - June 13–15, University of Saskatchewan We’ll be at the 2013 Native American and Indigenous Studies conference in Saskatoon.
