With capitalism failing and both the right and liberals promoting anti-communism, no wonder many people are attracted by communism. But which of the many communisms on offer?
Camfield explores the history of ‘actually existing socialist’ societies such as USSR, China and Cuba and argues they were never in transition to a classless, stateless society of liberation - the original communist goal.
He also argues there is much to learn from anti-Stalinist traditions - from anarchism to Trotskyism - that maintained that goal.
