Panel Discussion: ALLIES: GIFT AND CHALLENGE Panelists: Madison Foster - Blogger, Activist, Community Organizer, Public Speaker, Dedicated Troublemaker

Robert Wright - Social Work Private Practitioner, former Executive Director of the NS Child and Youth Strategy, former Race Relations Coordinator of the Dartmouth District School Board, PhD student in Sociology studying race, identity and power.

Sherry Pictou - Adult educator, Community Organizer and Activist, former Chief of L’sitkuk (Bear River First Nation), PhD Student in Adult Education studying multi-scalar learning and knowledge production within and as social action in global and Indigenous contexts.

Author Anne Bishop will say a few words about the updated 3rd edition of Becoming an Ally: Breaking the Cycle of Oppression in People. The panelists will speak to the concepts of solidarity (Madison Foster), complexity: needing and being an ally (Robert Wright) and small ‘t’ treaties (Sherry Pictou) before opening the floor to discussion.

Everyone is welcome - this is a free event. Copies of the 3rd Edition of Becoming An Ally: Breaking the Cycle of Oppression in People will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be available.
