One Box Montreal Book Release

Add to calendar

Allan and Andi invite you to celebrate the release of their book at L’Euguélionne on September 28th. In addition to a book signing and art activity, our very special guest Jax and Deann will present “Stories of homecoming and healing among trans and queer Filipino/a/xs in Tiohtià:ke/ Mooniyang/ Montréal” and “The perpetual nature of the Labour export Program”, respectively.

About the guests:

Jacqueline Colting Stol (Jax; she/her) will share about her PhD research and reflections  gathering and sharing oral and visual stories with trans and queer Filipino/a/xs in Montréal. We shared about the ways that people differently reconnect and return to cultural, linguistic, and ancestral ways of knowing and being. We re-imagined space, time and relations through safety, access, collectivity, abundance, and transformation.

Deann Louise C. Nardo aka Amihan's Nanay, is a poet, chocolate lover, and an avid admirer of large leaves. They like to tend to the collective garden with Amihan and pick wild flowers to make bouquets to celebrate their life as a living altar.

Through their work with Migrante Quebec, they will speak about the perpetual nature of the Philippines' Labour Export Program and how even after many decades, the consequences of family separation has stayed the same. They will be sharing their experience growing up as a child of an Overseas Filipino Worker and how separation challenges families to generate creative ways of showing their love through the rupture.
