A roundtable discussion with the author of COUNTRY OF POXES, Baijayanta Mukhopadhyay. In conversation with:
Christiane Essombe (she/her) holds a Master degree from the University of Montreal School of Public Health. As a diasporic Black woman who is neither from here or there, she constantly interrogates the legacy of colonialism wherever she is. Christiane is currently completing a PhD in psychology at the University of Cape Town in which she interrogates Negrophobia in African contexts.
Richard Budgell is a Labrador Inuk and an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McGill University. He had a career of more than 30 years in the Government of Canada, including as a administrator in First Nations and Inuit health.
Pia Sumbly is a registered nurse and proud founder of Clinique Parc-X, a community medical clinic that predominantly serves asylum claimants.
