Join Luna Vives, Canada Research Chair in Global Migration Processes, will present on her new book The Gates of the Sea: Migration and Rescue at the Edges of Europe. 

About the book

The Gates of the Sea examines how the Spanish government is redirecting maritime search and rescue operations to prevent migrants from reaching its territory. The book also explores how rescue teams are resisting this instrumentalization of their mission for border control purposes.

About the Author
Luna Vives is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the Université de Montréal. Her research focuses on the tightening of migration policies at European and North American borders, as well as the effects of these policies on vulnerable migrants.
