Fernwood commits to PACBI

As part of our broader commitment to BDS, Fernwood Publishing publicly commits to PACBI, the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. It is Fernwood's position that all publishing is always political; neutrality is not an option. Publishing can be used as much for manufacturing consent to genocide, occupation, apartheid, settler colonialism and climate catastrophe as it can for actively resisting them and creating the conditions for justice. By endorsing PACBI, we heed the call of Palestinian civil society and all related liberation struggles to commit our work to liberation and to be consistent in our political commitments to justice. This means we will not take funding or cooperate with cultural institutions according to the PACBI guidelines. We invite publishers in Canada and beyond to commit to this collective responsibility until Palestine is free.

For detailed guidelines and information on what it means for artists and cultural institutions to commit to PACBI, please visit the BDS national committee site: https://bdsmovement.net/pacbi/cultural-boycott-guidelines.
