Bjorn Hettne

Göeborg University

Björn Hettne is Professor Emeritus at Economic History at Göteborg University. He has written extensively on International Political Economy, Regionalism (South Asia, Europe), and Development and Conflict Theory. He has also been engaged in research on the “Anatomy of Complex Emergencies.” Björn recently lectured about “One year after 11 September - what happened in South Asia and why?”

Professor Hettne retired in June 2006. In his honour, Göteborg University arranged a seminar, for invited guests only, at Jonsered Manor, June14-15, 2006. The seminar was titled “New Scenes for International Cooperation - Björn Hettne and Internationalisation of Higher Education.” Hettne was also chairman for the SASNET (Swedish South Asian Studies Network) from 2001 to 2006.
